Earth News/ Today, Monday, the Presidency of the House of Representatives called on the government to develop realistic solutions to address the causes of high prices and hold manipulators accountable, putting forward 4 proposals to get out of this crisis.
According to a document obtained by Earth News, the Presidency of Parliament confirmed that “in view of the significant increases in the prices of flour, which is one of the basic foodstuffs that the government must provide to the Iraqi citizen, especially for people with limited income who suffer from A significant weakness in the purchasing power and its great impact on their livelihood situation, and due to the citizens’ dissatisfaction with that, and the many appeals and appeals that were directed to us, and the lack of a large smooth flow of distribution of flour, as well as the delay in its arrival to the markets, ration agents or professionals who subsist on its products, which It may lead to the creation of a major crisis as a result of the rise in prices, the responsibility of which lies with the state for its stability, so we hope to find realistic and thoughtful solutions.”
And she continued, “and among the solutions is directing the Federal Ministry of Trade to modify the mechanism and flow of grain reaching the mills, receiving flour urgently, distributing the ration every month instead of distributing it every (45) days, and directing the authorities concerned with economic and food security to investigate the reasons for the rise in flour prices and to hold the defaulters accountable. According to the law, strict measures have been imposed in this regard.
And she continued, "Among the proposals, is the development of an urgent plan by the Federal Ministry of Trade in coordination with the governmental and private mills to provide flour to cover the needs of the local market, and the development of a quick and clear strategic plan by the Federal Ministries of Agriculture and Water Resources to increase the areas planted for wheat and provide full support to farmers." .
