Erbil (Kurdistan 24) - An economic advisor in the Kurdistan Parliament said today, Monday, that the Kurdistan Region may start exporting its gas to Europe within three years.
In an interview with Kurdistan 24, Arshad Taha, an economist, said that the exports of the Kurdistan Region are expected to reach Europe through Turkish territory.
He added that Dana Gas is working to increase gas production in the Kurdistan Region, noting that this would enhance potential gas exports.
By the end of 2021, Dana Gas achieved record gas production from its operations in the Kurdistan Region, which amounted to 452 million standard cubic feet per day.
The Kurdistan Region has 200 trillion cubic feet of natural gas reserves, which constitutes 3 percent of the total gas reserves in the world, according to the Ministry of Natural Resources.
The President of the Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani, had recently made an official visit to Qatar, during which he discussed with senior officials the "huge gas potential in the region."
