Talib, the leader of the State of Law coalition, Turki Al-Atabi, on Friday, to investigate immediately the file of agricultural land investment in Diyala.
Al-Otabi said in an interview with "The Information", "Investment is a good title and we support it in all fields, but the file of investing agricultural land or controlling it and converting it into residential land by influential parties requires a serious pause in Diyala and the opening of an immediate and transparent investigation."
Al-Otbi added, "We receive many complaints from farmers about controlling their lands by various means and offering them for investment, even though it is fertile land and has been producing for decades, stressing the need to clarify the mechanism through which these lands were controlled and whether compensation will be paid to those affected or not."
He pointed out that "the land file in Diyala raises a lot of question marks, which calls for the formation of an investigation committee in order to ensure that the influential parties are not unique and unjustly looted agricultural lands."
Diyala suffers from the phenomenon of influential forces controlling agricultural lands from time to time, which prompted some farmers to organize frequent protests in Baquba.
