On Sunday, Representative Ali Al-Bindawi called on the government to open a broad investigation into the funds for collecting rents and services in the Baghdad Municipality.
Al-Bindawi said in a televised interview followed by Mawazine News, “The issue of furnishing the streets was left to the Baghdad Municipality, although the traffic departments collect sums of money to maintain and furnish the streets, we did not find any developments in those streets.”
He added, "Unfortunately, it is not known where this money is going, and keeping it in the Baghdad Municipality only is unreasonable because its capabilities are limited."
He continued, "These funds are supposed to be collected again, so they must be allocated to street infrastructure at a time when we call on the Ministry of Interior to reconsider the issue of smart cameras and start an awareness campaign and furnish the streets."
