On Wednesday, the Secretary-General of the Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq movement, Qais Khazali, responded to the tweet of the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, saying that "the country needs something high."
Khazali said in a press statement, “We have said more than once that the approach of exclusion and rejection of the other will not solve a problem in the country, and we believe that the country needs something high to a great degree of sacrifice, awareness of the public interest and openness of heart so that the different viewpoints are contained.”
On the issue of consensus, Khazali said: “I repeat, we hope that there will not be an absolute consensus, but a real majority in everything, meaning that a Sunni political party and a Shiite and Kurdish political party will come and form a majority, and there will also be in the opposition a Sunni political party, a Shiite political party, and a Kurdish political party. This is with him and we support him.”
However, he added, "As for the door being open to all Sunnis and all Kurds, and only not to all Shiites, we do not believe that this is the correct understanding of the majority," adding, "We hope, expect, hope, and work with all our partners, and in the coming days we will send an initiative and hope to reach a stage Putting the interests of the nation ahead of personal accounts and convictions.
He continued, "The government is supposed to be a means and not an end...a means to serve the people," noting that "standing up on the details of this means means that we have turned it into a goal at a time when the people are indifferent and do not care much about who will participate and who will not participate, what They care a lot about the economic difficulties that have begun, and the unknown future.”
He added, "These are the points that the citizen cares about, and all of us are expected to put the people's interest before our own. This is our call to all political parties, and our call to Muqtada al-Sadr is to go beyond these details, which are political differences, and head towards the goal of the people, in order to form a government in which the focus is on What are the guarantees of its success and what are the guarantees that corruption will not occur in it.”
Khazali stressed, "We will not be a reason for a political blockage with our hands outstretched, and all we did in the two rounds was to send a message that the Shiite majority cannot be bypassed in parliament, nor can the Shiite majority be bypassed as an elective audience and a general public."
The leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, earlier, reiterated his assertion not to go to form a "consensual government", noting that "the political blockage is easier than agreeing with you and better than sharing the cake with you."
Al-Sadr stated in a blog post, that "I will not agree with you.. Consensus means the end of the country.. No to consensus in all its forms.. What you water with political obstruction is easier than agreeing with you and better than sharing the cake with you. There is no good in a consensus government."
Al-Sadr asked, "How will you agree with the blocs while you are arguing against all the components and all the partners you are trying to win over to your camp!!"
Al-Sadr addressed the Iraqi people, saying: "Oh, the Iraqi people, I will not bring you back to your previous tragedies, and this is a false promise. The country will not be subject to subordination, occupation, normalization and quotas...and the people will never bow to them...and peace."
