Iraqi Oil Minister Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar confirmed that improved gasoline is imported at a price of 1500 dinars and sold to citizens at a price of 650 dinars.
This statement was made by the minister to determine the causes of the fuel crisis in some governorates, by saying: “We sell fuel to citizens at two-thirds less than its international price.”
The Ministry of Oil does not intend to “raise fuel prices because the poor classes will be harmed,” according to the minister, who pointed out that there are “consumers who buy gas oil at the commercial price and compete with the citizen to buy the product at the subsidized price.”
He stressed that "there is no way to control the sale of gas oil except by increasing the prices of oil products," adding that "improved gasoline is imported at a price of 1500 dinars and is sold to the citizen at a price of 650 dinars."
The Ministry of Oil loses billions of dollars through subsidies that go to the citizen at a low cost, according to Abdul-Jabbar, who indicated that the policy of the Ministry of Oil is based on the support of the citizen, the final buyer.
The Ministry of Oil announced the preliminary statistics of the exported quantities of crude oil and the revenues generated for the month of March, two days ago.
The total amount of crude oil exports reached (100) million (563) thousand and (999) barrels, with revenues amounting to (11.07) billion dollars, which is the highest financial revenue achieved since 1972, according to the ministry.
This pricing was based on an average price per barrel of more than (110,090) dollars.
