Parliamentary Finance reveals to Shafak News the total amount of the Food Security Law and announces the amendment of some of its articles
Shafaq News/ The Parliamentary Finance Committee revealed, on Saturday, the total amount allocated to the draft law on emergency support for food security and development, noting the amendment of some of its articles.
Committee member Nazim al-Shibli told Shafaq News Agency, "The draft law on emergency support for food security and development took place in the first and second readings in the previous sessions of the House of Representatives," noting that "the Finance Committee holds frequent meetings on a daily basis and hosted a number of ministers and officials, including the Minister of Finance. To discuss the bill in order for it to be ready for voting in the coming days.”
He pointed out that "the Finance Committee made some amendments to the articles of the draft law, namely refusing internal and external borrowing, relying on the financial liquidity available from the rise in oil prices, strengthening the vocabulary of the ration card, and increasing the Small Projects Fund in the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs."
Al-Shibli added that "the powers of the Minister of Finance in the bill may be rejected and amended by the Parliamentary Finance Committee."
The member of the Finance Committee indicated that "the total amount of the project does not exceed 25 trillion, and currently there are accurate accounts and the specified amount may be reduced to the lowest."
And earlier today, Saturday, Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi called on the political forces to vote on the food security law without emptying it of its content in order to serve the citizens, as it is a very important law,” noting that “the goal of the law is to provide the necessary protection for our people.”
On Monday (3/28/2022), the House of Representatives completed its reading of the report and discussion of the draft law on emergency support for food security and development.
