The Finance Committee in the House of Representatives identified the reasons that led to the delay in the discussion of the law on unifying the salaries of employees, while expressing the hope that it would be approved during the next stage.
Committee member Nazim Fahim al-Shibli said in a statement to the official newspaper, followed by IQ News, that "there are three reasons behind the obstruction of the discussion of the salary unification law, the first of which is the political situation and the withdrawal of the Sadrist bloc, and the accompanying repercussions that led to the disruption of the work of parliamentary committees."
He added, "The second and third reasons are the committee's initiation during the last period to formulate the approved food security law, and the parliament's announcement that it will enter the first legislative term holiday," explaining that "the salary unification law requires efforts from members of the Finance Committee in order to approve it."
Al-Shibli stressed that "the resignation of the head of the committee and a number of its members left a great impact on the committee, due to waiting for their replacements to come up to present the laws," expressing his hope that "the law will be passed during the next stage, despite the size of the differences that exist within the committee."
