Nechirvan Barzani and Al-Mandlawi stressed "collective work and coordination between all political parties in order to achieve stability and overcome obstacles that stand in the way of the political process, based on the country's higher interests, protecting its citizens and taking into account their legitimate rights and demands."
Al-Mandalawi was elected to succeed the leading first deputy in the Sadrist movement, Hakim al-Zamili, who submitted their resignations with 73 deputies from his bloc, under the guidance of the movement’s leader Muqtada al-Sadr, after the political process reached a dead end due to al-Sadr’s insistence on forming a national majority government, rejecting the coordination framework and his insistence that he is the owner of the bloc.
