The Directorate General of Passports revealed its plans for the next year, represented by advancing towards governance, integration, payment and the electronic passport.
Release quantities
The Director of Passports Affairs, Jurist Brigadier Majed Adnan Ahmed, said in an interview with the Noon news agency:The passport is a constitutional right for every citizen to obtain it, and during the months of the current year, and so far, we have been able to issue more than one million and (500) thousand passports, because we issue daily from ten thousand to (14) thousand passports in times of rush, and in some months, such as July, we issued ( 183) thousand passports, and in October we issued (150) thousand passports, despite the existence of some defect in the printing of the passport or the delay from the equipped source, but we are keen that the citizen obtains his passport, and the thing that happened is that the Directorate keeps a huge stock of passports, and the issuance was very large in The months of the current year, and the demand is great for them because of the citizens’ desire to travel, receive treatment, replace or renew the passport, as well as the stability of the security situation in all governorates, prompting citizens to travel, and our departments work in all circumstances, and even in the Corona pandemic, we did not stop working, so there was pressure on the stock and caused a delay for a period Very few, and we asked the supplying authority to provide us with (500) thousand passports as a first payment and another five hundred as a second batch, and we are assuredCitizens in all governorates that things are very normal and better, and we continue to grant the passport,” adding, “The issuance of the passport may be delayed a little, especially in recent times, but in the end, the citizen will obtain the passport, either with regard to the wounded, emergency cases, humanitarian cases, students abroad and experiences It has priority in granting the passport, and we continued to work throughout the months of this year. When Lieutenant General Abd al-Amir al-Shammari assumed the duties of the Minister of the Interior, he instructed that the daily working hours be for eleven hours, from eight in the morning until seven in the evening, which is a period that allows the employees to review our departments after working hours. Official and non-employees as well. The employees' working hours were divided into two meals a day, and they are officers and ranks who make great efforts daily to issue passports to citizens. The issuance of the passport may be delayed a little, especially in recent times, but in the end, the citizen will obtain the passport. As for the wounded, urgent cases, humanitarian cases, students abroad and experiences, they have priority in granting the passport, and we continued to work throughout the months of this year and when Lieutenant General Abdul Prince Al-Shammari, for the tasks of the Minister of the Interior, instructed that the daily working hours be for eleven hours, from eight in the morning until seven in the evening, which is a period that allows the employees to review our departments after official working hours and for non-employees as well. daily to issue passports to citizens. The issuance of the passport may be delayed a little, especially in recent times, but in the end, the citizen will obtain the passport. modern techniques
Regarding modern technologies, Ahmed stressed that "the Ministry, the Directorate, the World Aviation Organization, and even the citizen want the Iraqi passport to be electronic and carry (biometric) the decimal fingerprint, the eye print, the apparent and hidden security information, the strength and durability of this important document, and it supports the position of the Iraqi traveler in the rest of the countries he visits, and we hope that We will achieve it soon because the Ministry is striving hard for this issue, and the passport currently contracted for has reached a stage in which (70) percent of the security privileges and security are available. It will be either at the beginning of next year or before the end of this year, and the Iraqi passport will become one of the most modern passports in use in the world, with a high level of privileges."

Iraqis abroad
As for Iraqis abroad and how to facilitate their obtaining a passport, the Director of Passport Affairs indicated that "the Directorate gives them passports, as there are passport offices for the Ministry in many countries. As for countries that do not have representations, special detachments from the Directorate go and integrated committees that carry out all the steps that are implemented here in Iraq from taking fingerprints to photographing and all the required information, and the committees bring them to the Directorate, and after completing and issuing the passports, they are sent through a diplomatic bag in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and delivered to their owners, and most of the Iraqis abroad we issued them passports, as we issued in the last duty and to the State of Qatar (1500) passports for Iraqis There, and in Turkey, we issued (15) thousand passports, as well as in other countries,” noting that “the ministry and the directorate are pushing towards electronic governance, integration, electronic payment, and the electronic passport, which is the ambition of the ministry and the directorate to provide the best services to the citizen.”
