Today, Saturday, the Intelligence Agency announced that it had thwarted oil theft operations and seized 12 oil sites in separate areas.
A statement by the Intelligence Agency stated, "The Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency in the Ministry of Interior continues its proactive operations to reduce cases of smuggling of oil and its derivatives, and based on accurate intelligence information and separate operations, the agency's detachments were able to seize 12 oil sites used for trading and recycling oil and its derivatives informally." Inside the sites, oil tanks of different sizes were found containing oil products of unknown quantity and quality within the governorates of (Baghdad, Basra, Kirkuk, Nineveh and Diyala).
In another context, the same detachments were able to "seize 25 violating vehicles in the governorates of Basra, Baghdad, Kirkuk, Anbar, Maysan, Dhi Qar, Holy Karbala, Najaf, Diyala and Nineveh," noting that "they were dealt with in a proper manner and handed over to the concerned authorities, and the necessary measures were taken to complete the investigative papers."
