    Today, Saturday, the Ministry of Commerce announced the launch of the process of providing eggs, chicken, and flour at subsidized prices, with the aim of limiting their rise in the market, starting tomorrow.
    A spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce, Muhammad Hanoun, told the official channel, "After the cabinet's decision to provide support to those covered by social protection, the ministry took measures to determine the names of those covered, and today we have reached a number of 5 million and 100 thousand covered by the decision."
    He added, "The support was in the form of foodstuffs added as quantities to the ration that these families receive, which are oil, flour, tea, milk and sugar."
    And he continued, "After the end of the social search for more than one million and 800 thousand applicants for protection salaries, those who are accepted will be included in the additional quota, and the total number of those covered may approach 7 million."
    He stressed, "The stores of the Ministry of Commerce are full of foodstuffs and continue to supply, and do not stop distributing the additional ration to the families covered by the protection, and are ready for any increase and the direction of the government program is supportive of food security and the provision of items."
    He pointed out that "the ministry entered the commercial line and launched, through its outlets and warehouses, the supply of citizens with basic materials, such as eggs at a price of 4,750 dinars per layer, and flour at a price of 40,000 dinars per bag, and these prices are fixed and not subject to the exchange rate and will be applied starting tomorrow."
    And he continued, "This was implemented in agreement with the private sector, and it can buy the two materials at these two prices from the stores of the Ministry of Commerce. The goal is to achieve acceptable prices, as well as chicken will be provided at half the price currently offered in the local market, in addition to eggs and flour, followed by the addition of other materials."
    On monitoring the application, Hanoun said, "The supervisory teams affiliated with the Ministry of Commerce and the security services represented by the Department of Combating Economic Crime in the Ministry of Interior and the National Security Agency follow up the market and deal with any cases of manipulation in accordance with the law."
