Parliament: Increase border allocations for the purchase of drones and high-precision weapons

The Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee has expressed its keenness to add amendments to security allocations in the draft budget for the year 2023, noting that among them is a focus on supporting the Border Guard forces in particular.
The Iraqi borders, especially the northern and eastern ones, lack modern technologies, accurate weapons, and even sufficient outposts to control the border strip with Turkey, Iran, and even Saudi Arabia and Syria, especially in the mountainous and rugged areas.
The deputy head of the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee, Skvan Sindi, said: "There are clear problems in border control, most of which are on the eastern border with Iran and the northern border with Turkey," noting that "the border guards need additional forces with advanced technologies and thermal and night cameras." Sindi added, in an interview with "Al-Sabah", that "the government sought to take steps towards strengthening border protection after opening the door to volunteering to increase the staffing of border guards, and to create a military force supported by development and technologies to maintain borders, in addition to cooperation and coordination with neighboring countries." He pointed out that "most of the border problems are due to the vast distances and the small number of border guard units, so we called for increasing the units, fortifying the sectors holding the borders, equipping them with weapons, and increasing the construction of border outposts," noting that "
