The explosive budget for 2023 opens up the Parliament's appetite for reviewing laws that Iraqis complain about being wronged, which is considered a page of establishing fairness and justice instead of laws that have not been legislated or have become a source of constant discontent and grievance.
Member of the Legal Committee, MP Ahmed Fawaz Al-Tarifi, said: "The suspended laws amounted to nearly a hundred laws that concern large segments of society, and they change the conditions of the oppressed in society, and the committee will start working on classifying them and then working to approve them after passing the budget law for the year 2023."
Al-Tarifi explained, in an interview with "Al-Sabah", that "the committee will go to the approval of important laws such as the law on public retirement, civil service and others, because they affect the life of the citizen, after they have been consolidated in terms of entrances and legal contexts," pointing out that "solving the problems of laws and files The outstanding and contentious issues and what was agreed upon prior to the formation of the government in the State Administration Coalition, will require resorting to the constitution within the legal frameworks.
He added, "The Legal Committee met with the Elections Commission regarding the possibility of holding provincial elections on October 23, 2023, according to the government program," noting that the committee "discussed the possibility of making the necessary amendments in line with the stage and gaining voter confidence in the elections, and thus changing the political map to representation." More democracy under the dome of parliament includes the loyalists and the opposition.
He pointed out that "it is difficult now, according to the political and social data, to amend the constitution, on the other hand, it is possible to amend some important laws that are consistent with the urgent needs of society."
