Shafaq News/ The President of the Republic, Abd al-Latif Jamal Rashid announced, on Wednesday, his support for the Iraqi government's measures to raise the exchange rate of the dinar against the US dollar.
Rashid said in a tweet on the social networking sites "Twitter" today, "We support the measures of the Council of Ministers and the Central Bank to raise the exchange rate of the dinar because of its positive results on the standard of living and enhancing the value of the national currency."

He stressed "the need to continue the economic reform measures for the productive sectors, support investment and the private sector, and combat corruption in order to achieve development and prosperity."
And the Council of Ministers, in a session held yesterday evening, Tuesday, the seventh of February, approved the decision of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Iraq to adjust the exchange rate of the dollar against the dinar, equivalent to 1,300 dinars to one dollar.
Since the first month of the new government taking over the administration of the country, the exchange rate of the US dollar against the Iraqi dinar has witnessed an upward rise, to exceed 1,500 dinars per dollar before the end of last year.
Since the beginning of this year, the exchange rate of the dollar has witnessed sudden jumps, as it crossed the threshold of 1,600 dinars to the dollar, and it remained fluctuating during the month of last January in the square of 1,600, but during the month of February, the dollar crossed the barrier of 1,700 dinars, and in some days it approached 1,800 dinars per dollar.
These booms and fluctuations prompted the government and the Central Bank of Iraq to take several measures in an attempt to control the exchange rate, but they have not achieved anything so far, while some say that the dollar exchange rate may continue with this rise.

On the other hand, the President of the Republic, Abd al-Latif Jamal Rashid, met today, Wednesday, at the Baghdad Palace, with a delegation representing a group of demonstrators.
A statement issued by Rashid said, “Peaceful demonstration is a right approved by the constitution for every citizen, and it is the national duty to listen to the demands of our people and strive hard to meet them in a way that provides them with a decent and safe life,” pointing to the importance of resolving issues in a peaceful way and under the roof of the constitution and laws.
He added that it is necessary to focus on security and stability, especially since Iraq is a rich country with resources and capabilities, and the Iraqis have borne great and difficult consequences as a result of the conditions and conditions that they went through in the past decades of violence and terrorism.
In turn, the delegation indicated that today they are witnessing a new situation, as the protector of the constitution opens his doors to the demonstrators, and we have great confidence in his excellency to adopt our demands and obtain our rights, noting that the presidency of the republic is working to address the concerns and suffering of the people and is making more efforts to do justice to them, according to the statement.
