Iraq calls on Arab parliaments to work for Syria's return to its surroundings and stability

Shafaq News/ On Saturday, the Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Muhammad al-Halbousi, called on Arab parliaments to exercise their role by working for Syria's return to its Arab surroundings and stability.
A statement from Al-Halbousi's office, received by Shafaq News agency, stated that the Speaker of Parliament arrived at the headquarters of the League of Arab States. To participate in the Fifth Conference of the Arab Parliament and the heads of Arab councils and parliaments (parliamentary vision to enhance Arab food security).

Al-Halbousi said, during the conference, "We call for a position for Arab parliaments to work for the return of Syria and the stability of this brotherly Arab country."
He added, "We call for there to be a clear Arab role, and for the Arab leadership and Arab countries at all levels to adopt Syria's return to its Arab surroundings, and Syria's return to exercising its Arab, regional and international role in an effective and clear manner."
Regarding the devastating earthquake that struck Syria, al-Halbousi indicated that "Iraq has begun to open the ports with the Syrian Arab Republic and to deliver all popular and governmental aid, and there is a clear role to stand with the brotherly Syrian people."
