[size=45]Hundreds of contract and wage workers working for the Ur State Company for Engineering Industries in Dhi Qar closed the company's doors for the second time in a month, to demand confirmation and ministerial contracts within the permanent staffing, while officials warned of the repercussions of stopping production on supply contracts concluded with ministries and the private sector.[/size]
[size=45]Sources in the Ur company told Al-Mada that “large numbers of contract employees and wage workers gathered in a large demonstration in front of the main gate of the Ur company and prevented employees from entering to carry out their work.”[/size]
[size=45]The source added, "The security forces took the initiative to negotiate with the protesters and did not reach a clear result."[/size]
[size=45]For his part, a source among the company's contract employees said, in a statement to (Al-Mada), that "contract employees and wage workers had to demonstrate in front of the company after they reached a dead end during their discussions with the company's management and the relevant ministries."[/size]
[size=45]The source added, "Most of the demonstrators have worked for the company for more than two years."[/size]
[size=45]He pointed out that "the escalation in their demanding activities will continue until the full fulfillment of their demands, which he described as legitimate."[/size]
[size=45]The employees of the Ur State Company, in terms of contracts and wages, constitute more than 15 percent of the company’s employees, and their number is 520 employees, 244 of them work in the capacity of contracts and demand confirmation of the permanent staff because their service exceeds two years in the company, while 276 of them work for daily wages and demand that they be transferred to contracts. According to Resolution 315.[/size]

[size=45]The General Manager of Ur Haider Sahar Al-Husseinawi Company had mentioned in a previous interview with (Al-Mada) that “the company operates according to the self-financing system and employs more than 3,200 employees, of which 2,600 are permanent employees, and about 600 employees work according to the system of wages and contracts.”[/size]
[size=45]Last month, hundreds of contract and wage workers working for the Ur company closed the doors of the aforementioned company to demand confirmation and ministerial contracts within the permanent staffing.[/size]
[size=45]The Ur State Company was previously closed down in the middle of last year by clans claiming ownership of the land on which the company was established.[/size]
[size=45]The escalation of demands for contract employees and wage workers comes in conjunction with the release of the file of lecturers and contract employees in a number of government departments, as it was decided to install more than 32 thousand lecturers and associates in Dhi Qar after the central government responded to their demands about two months ago, following the demand activities, strike and sit-in that he carried out. It includes two production departments, one of which is specialized in the manufacture of cables and electrical wires of various sizes and sizes, and the other is the aluminum factories department, which specializes in the production of aluminum sheets and sections of various sizes. The company currently employs more than 3,000 employees from various technical and engineering specializations.[/size]
