    Shirwan said; For the program “Alam al-Mustarah” broadcast by Al-Furat TV channel this evening, that: “The government seeks to activate the previous mature agreements of the Ministry of Electricity, and their activation regarding energy is very important, and raises the units by an additional 5,000 megawatts.” 
    He added, "The fuel crisis is old, especially Iranian gas, and most international stations have dispensed with gas and black oil and turned to alternative energy."
    Sherwan pointed out, "The range of gas reserves in Iraq amounts to 132 trillion cubic feet, which makes it ranked 11th in the world; but it is considered very late in investing in natural gas, and according to the World Bank report, Iraq is considered the largest gas-burning country after Russia, as Iraq burns 18 billion cubic feet of gas." gas annually.
    He continued, "The lack of investment in natural gas reflects poor coordination between the ministries of oil and electricity," adding, "The Ministry of Electricity's plan is to reach production of 24,000 megawatts next summer, while the actual need requires providing 34,000 megawatts, and this means that there will be a deficit in electricity." Energy ranges from 10-12 megawatts, which means 30%, except for losses that reach 20%. 
    And Sherwan added, "The Ministry of Electricity is doing its work, and the problem of transferring money lies with the government. As for the problem of transferring Iranian gas, this is related to the sanctions." 
    He explained that "the Iraqi-Jordanian interconnection provides only 1,000 megawatts and addresses 10% of the energy deficit next summer."
    Sherwan called on the Ministry of Electricity to "accelerate steps to complete alternative energy projects, and Emirati and Saudi companies have expressed their desire to cooperate in the field of alternative energy."
