    Baghdad today - translation
Neta Crawford, a researcher in international political affairs at Oxford University, revealed today, Saturday, the cost of the war on Iraq and the number of Iraqi casualties in Washington.
The researcher wrote in an article titled "Blood and Treasure" and published by the American organization "Democracy Now", translated by (Baghdad Today), about the total cost of the US war on Iraq and its "killing" of civilians before its launch.
On the twentieth anniversary of the invasion of Iraq, the writer stated that "the United States, during the year 2002, developed a vision about the cost of the war, which included spending no more than 300 billion dollars," noting that "a number of Iraqi civilian casualties and American soldiers fell."
And she added, "What actually happened during and before the war was completely different, as the American forces, even before the military operations began, launched a bombing campaign targeting cities, which directly led to the killing of no less than seven thousand Iraqis during the first months only."
And she added, "Hundreds of thousands of others died as a result of the American invasion, while millions of others were displaced in the war that Washington thought it would contain and end in a short time, which it failed to achieve. Until this moment, there are still American soldiers on the ground in Iraq," according to her description.
And regarding the real costs of the war, the American researcher asserted that "the United States spent $2.9 trillion instead of the expected $300 billion first, and instead of only months to end and contain the war, the United States is still involved in Iraq twenty years later."
Regarding the casualties, the researcher said, "The information possessed by American research centers and what was monitored by international organizations proves that the numbers reached half a million in both Iraq and Syria during the last period," noting that "the inclusion of Syria in the statistic comes as a result of the emergence of The terrorist organization ISIS, which the researcher considered as part of the direct results of the American invasion of Iraq.
The consequences of the US invasion also included the civil war in Iraq, the deterioration of security in the region, and even the spread of epidemics and diseases, which the researcher included in the list of victims of the invasion, stressing that "the destruction of Iraqi infrastructure made the country vulnerable to several dangers, including epidemics and pollution," according to her description. .
It is noteworthy that the twentieth of this month will mark the twentieth anniversary of the US invasion of Iraq in 2003, which was accompanied by an unprecedented wave of criticism directed by newspapers, the media and research and analysis centers against the US government, which is still to this day "involved" in the Iraqi situation, according to the researcher. .
