Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) -The head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Ammar al-Hakim, discussed with the Egyptian Prime Minister, Hisham Qindiel, the prospects of enhancing the Iraqi-Egyptian bilateral relations.
A statement by Hakim’s office cited on Tuesday “Hakim welcomed on Tuesday, Qindiel and his accompanying delegation, where he described the visit of the Egyptian top delegation to Iraq as good step to deepen the historical relations between both countries.”
Hakim called to “Ease the obstacles that face the Iraqis who wish to visit Egypt and to find administrative facilitations to develop the economic communication between Iraq and Egypt.”
The head of the SIIIC stressed that “The religious and sectarian tensions witnessed by the region are adopted by political agendas,” describing Iraq and Egypt as qualified to draw right path for promoting love and peace in the region.”
He called “Sheikh of Al-Azhar to visit Iraq and meet with Najaf religious authorities, highlighting the influential role of the Najaf Religious Authority and Al-Azhar in promoting love and harmony among the region’s peoples.”
“For his part, Qindiel expressed his tribute for Hakim’s warm reception and hospitality,” noting that “Iraq and Egypt have commonalities in language, region and good relations where the common cooperation between both countries will give weight to the Arabic standing and benefit the Arabic countries,” the statement concluded.
