    The advisor to the Prime Minister for Financial and Economic Affairs, Mazhar Muhammad Salih, said on Sunday that the electrical connection with the Gulf countries, in addition to the current connection with Iran, is one of the available means to meet the country's need for electricity by 100%.
    Saleh stated, "Despite the amounts spent as investments in the production and distribution of electric power, which amounted to about $100 billion, during the past two decades, which are supposed to make our country an electricity-exporting country within the (five-year interconnection) strategies with neighboring countries that have become famous for exchanging surpluses." The electric energy produced a long time ago, but unfortunately the country is still today at a production level that touches 20,000 megawatts, while the actual need is 30,000 megawatts or something like that. 
    Saleh added, in an interview with the official newspaper, that "the Gulf interconnection project comes with the aim of advancing economic development and the business cycle forward at the lowest costs and shortening the time and providing a sustainable supply that feeds the growing desired demand for electric energy, which continuously generates sustainability in the supply and demand gap, and the causes it causes." Constant losses in development and economic welfare.
    And he continued, "Based on the foregoing, interconnection with the Gulf states, in addition to the current interconnection with the Islamic Republic of Iran, has become one of the available means to provide electric power to the country, meet total needs by 100%, and solve the chronic supply and demand gap crisis and its intractable crisis that has been going on since 1991." Until the present time, and certainly, the cost of supply will be built according to the internationally approved competitive principles and the best prices for supplying electrical units in the world.
