The Ministry of Foreign Affairs denied abandoning Iraq's land or sea sovereignty, indicating that the land demarcation with Kuwait dates back to 1993.
The ministry said in a statement, "We deny abandoning Iraq's land or sea sovereignty, especially with regard to the Umm Qasr region in Basra.”
And she indicated that "the land border demarcation with the Kuwaiti side came in accordance with Security Council Resolution No. (833) of 1993," noting that "the government of Iraq shows its full commitment to it and its fulfillment of relevant international obligations. "
And she stated that "the land borders have not and will not be touched upon by change since they were officially installed."[/rtl]
