The Directorate of Industrial Development of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals announced, on Wednesday, its achievements in the first half of this year, and while it indicated that 678 establishment licenses were granted for industrial projects, it confirmed the trend to develop the cement, metal, food and petrochemical industries.
The Director General of the Directorate, Hussein Hassan Jawad, said in a press statement seen by "Al-Iqtisad News" that "under the direction of the Minister of Industry and Minerals, Dr. Khaled Battal, and according to the directives of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a Al-Sudani, the Directorate of Industrial Development worked to implement the government program for the first half of the current year," noting that " The Directorate fulfilled all its obligations, as 678 licenses were granted for industrial projects under construction, and 33 licenses for fully established projects were completed within the government program planned for this directorate.
He added, "The directorate is now working in a qualitative and exceptional direction, not in a quantitative direction." He explained that "the Directorate continues to support graduates, support young people, and encourage them to enter the labor market through coordination with universities, holding training workshops, and coordination with the Ministry of Labor." As it was stressed on the types of these industries that the country needs, which are a basic pillar in the field of strengthening industrial work, such as the cement and petrochemical industries in Iraq, steel industries and metal industries, in addition to the food industries that Iraq was distinguished by, as the focus was on these strategic industries in way to develop the country and jump to a new stage.
He stressed that "the Directorate, in cooperation with industrialists and with the continuous directives of the Prime Minister and Minister, is proceeding in the right direction, pointing out that the Directorate has made electronic payment according to the central directives of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, and now from 50 to 60 percent of transactions are completed by electronic payment."
