     Information / Baghdad,
    a member of the Parliamentary Security Committee, Representative Yasser Iskandar, confirmed, on Friday, the reduction of the challenges of the border file with neighboring countries in 5 axes.
    Iskandar said in an interview with Al-Maalouma, "The security of the Iraqi borders with all neighboring countries is a priority in the country's national security strategy for three reasons, the most prominent of which is preventing any direct and indirect threats and limiting smuggling and infiltration."
    He added, "Great efforts made by the government and security ministries in supporting the border security file during 2023 contributed to reducing challenges in 5 axes, most notably on the Syrian border, by ending any loopholes that may be exploited by terrorists and smugglers, pointing out that the border fortification level has reached more than 90 percent." %".
    He pointed out that "securing the borders means ending 50% of the problems and crimes with their various titles, stressing that the gaps of death on the Syrian borders are a thing of the past, and there are exceptional efforts to complete the fortification of the borders in all sectors without exception."
    And the Iraqi border with Syria posed a major security challenge in the past years, which required exceptional efforts to restore it again.
