Adviser to the Turkish President: Unresolved files hinder the meeting between Al-Assad and Erdogan 64f27c144c59b765e5024446

{International: Al Furat News} Ambassador Akif Chagatay Kilic, senior advisor to the Turkish President, said that the meetings with the Syrian government are continuing at different levels, explaining that there are outstanding files that hinder access to meetings at the highest level.
He stressed, in statements he made to a local channel, the firmness and clarity of his country's position on these files, and that without resolving them, a meeting cannot be held between President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Syrian Bashar al-Assad, stressing Turkey's respect for the territorial integrity of Syria, and its rejection of the control of any terrorist organization there.
And he added that Ankara had taken some steps to prevent terrorist organizations from controlling the region, for the sake of its national security and for the sake of Syria.
It is noteworthy that the Syrian President, Bashar al-Assad, confirmed two days ago, during talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdollahian, that the issue of the Turkish withdrawal is a necessary condition for the return of normal relations between Damascus and Ankara.
On the other hand, Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler said that drafting and adopting a new constitution for Syria is the most important stage for establishing peace there, stressing that the Turkish army will not leave Syria without ensuring the security of its borders and people.
Guler added in a televised interview, "Turkey sincerely wants peace, but we have what we consider sensitive points. It is inconceivable that we leave Syria without ensuring the security of our borders and our people, and I believe that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad will act more rationally in this matter."
