The Iraqi refugee and his lawyer said, according to Agence France-Presse, that he was interrogated based on a restitution request submitted by [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] on the grounds of burning the Qur’an.

Mumika said, "[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] is requesting my extradition so that I can be tried in [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] under Sharia law because I burned the Qur’an in [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]."

His lawyer, [url=https://www.alsumaria.tv/Entity/530064931/%D8%AF%D9%8A%D9%81%D9%8A%D8%AF %D9%87%D9%88%D9%84/ar/]David Hall[/url], said, "[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] wants to extradite him because he burned the Qur'an in front of a mosque in June. According to the law, what he did should be a crime in both [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]."

He added after questioning his client, "But this is not considered a crime in [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], so [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] cannot extradite him to [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]."

He continued, "I do not know why [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] would embarrass itself by submitting such a request. I am confident that the Iraqi government knows that."

According to the lawyer, the public prosecutor in charge of the case must ask the Supreme Court to decide on the extradition request, noting that this process could take a period of weeks or months.

Mumika confirmed that he "will file a complaint against Iraqi Foreign Minister [url=https://www.alsumaria.tv/Entity/1919237377/%D9%81%D8%A4%D8%A7%D8%AF %D8%AD%D8%B3%D9%8A%D9%86/ar/]Fuad Hussein[/url] because he committed a political crime against him," referring to the extradition request.

The Iraqi refugee sparked anger in the world and in the Arab and Islamic world in particular when in June he burned the Qur’an in front of the largest mosque in Stockholm, which coincided with the first day of Eid al-Adha.

This turned into a series of protest movements, the most violent of which was in [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], where protesters set fire to the Swedish embassy building, and several countries summoned [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]'s envoys to inform them of official protests.

After burning the Qur’an again in July, [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] ordered the expulsion of the Swedish ambassador to [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], and the suspension of the license of the Swedish telecommunications giant [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] in the country.
