Baghdad/Al-Masala Al-Hadath: The Federal Supreme Court ruled, on Sunday, to end the work of the governorate councils of the Kurdistan region of Iraq due to the end of their electoral cycle.
The judiciary media stated in a statement, “The Federal Supreme Court decided to rule that Article (2) of Law No. (2) of 2019, the First Amendment Law to the Law of the Governorates of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq No. (3) of 2009, was unconstitutional due to its violation of the provisions of Articles (2/First/B) C) and (6) of the Constitution of the Republic of Iraq for the year 2005 pursuant to the ruling issued by No. (124/Federal/2023) on 9/24/2023.”
