    A member of the Parliamentary Agriculture and Water Committee, Thaer Mohaif, confirmed that granting Iraq some Turkish water releases is throwing ashes into the eyes, pointing to the importance of the National Water Council managing the crisis file to ensure that the country obtains its water share from upstream countries.
    Makhif told Al-Maalouma, “The Turkish side granting Iraq some water releases is nothing but throwing ashes in the eyes, as the solution to the existing problem and the water crisis cannot be achieved in this way.”
    He added, "The upstream countries should recognize the riparian with Iraq and give it its undiminished water share. This matter will be built through political and technical axes, as a joint room must be formed to discuss with the upstream countries to ensure that Iraq obtains its rights."
    He stated: "We called for the creation of a National Water Management Council, so that this council is fixed and does not change with changing governments, so that it can fulfill its mission to secure Iraq's water share from the countries bordering it, especially since the file with Turkey has become more political than technical." Ended 25 n
