Ports: We continue to increase the depths of Khor Abdullah

The General Company for Ports revealed the continuation of depth-increasing work in the Khor Abdullah and Khor Al-Zubair canals and the ports of Umm Qasr, Al-Maqal and Shatt Al-Arab, while it revealed the implementation of its project to switch to electronic port management.
The company's director, Farhan Al-Fartousi, told Al-Sabah that great steps have been taken to transform work in the northern and southern ports of Umm Qasr from paper-based management to an electronic management system (digitization), as a large part of the operational system of the two ports has been modernized and developed in proportion to the volume of handling and incoming and outgoing ships. And linking them to modern systems that are compatible with what global ports operate with, thus creating a state of high flow that qualifies them to enter into competition with the ports of neighboring countries and regional countries, pointing to the preparation of an integrated feasibility study to develop the port sector and adopt the latest systems and software to implement electronic management, in conjunction with work at the Grand Faw Port. .
Al-Fartusi explained that the work of improving the depths and excavations is continuing in the Khor Abdullah and Khor Al-Zubair canals, and the ports of Umm Qasr, Al-Maqal and Shatt Al-Arab, in addition to the success of operations to raise sinkholes despite their difficulty, which has reflected positively on the volume of imports of large and giant ships, noting that all works and projects related to the sector The ports achieved completion rates that exceeded what was planned and in a very record time, especially with regard to the large Al-Faw port project, as well as the launch of the second phase of operating the welcome yard and adding a number of yards and berths, to achieve speed of work and a gradual shift to electronic work in port management.
