    Baghdad today - follow-up
The official spokesman for the Kurdistan Regional Government, Peshwahuramani, said today, Monday (October 16, 2023), that the visit of the Kurdistan Regional Government delegation to Baghdad and their meeting with the Finance Committee in the Iraqi Parliament is optional and indicates the seriousness of the Kurdistan Regional Government in solving problems. Prime Minister Masrour Barzani issued a statement Instructions to the KRG team not to leave a single question unanswered.
Horamani added, in press statements reported by Kurdish media outlets and followed by “Baghdad Today,” that “the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government recommended that the government team cooperate in a very transparent manner.” Horamani also confirmed that “the Kurdistan Regional Government is seeking to find a radical solution to protect the rights of the citizens of Kurdistan, within the framework of Federal Constitution of Iraq.
Tomorrow, Tuesday (October 17, 2023), a delegation from the Kurdistan government will head to the capital, Baghdad, to meet with the Finance Committee of the Iraqi Parliament next Wednesday.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Finance and Economy in the Kurdistan Government, Honor Jamal, said, “A delegation from Kurdistan will go to Baghdad tomorrow, Tuesday, October 17, 2023, to meet with the Finance Committee in the Iraqi Parliament.”
Honer Jamal added, "The delegation includes the Minister of Finance and Economy, Awat Sheikh Janab, Omid Sabah, Chief of the Cabinet Office of the Kurdistan Government, Amanj Rahim, Secretary of the Council of Ministers, Abdul Hakim Khosrow, Head of the Office of Coordination and Follow-up in the Kurdistan Government, and a number of advisors."
A delegation from the Kurdistan government, headed by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, went to Baghdad last September, to hold discussions with the federal government regarding financial dues to Kurdistan and employee salaries.
Kurdistan Regional Government spokesman, Peshwa Hawramani, revealed earlier today, Monday (October 16, 2023), that Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani informed the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government that the federal government will not send the salaries of the region’s employees directly.
Hawramani said in a televised statement followed by “Baghdad Today” that “Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani assured the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, that the Iraqi government will not send the salaries of the region’s employees directly, because that is in violation of the constitution.”
He added, "Al-Sudani said that the salaries of the region's employees will be sent through the official institutions of the Kurdistan Regional Government."
Al-Sudani's report comes at a time when the blocs of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, the New Generation Movement, the Kurdistan Justice Group, and the Kurdistan Islamic Union, in the Iraqi House of Representatives, collected signatures to pressure Baghdad to send the salaries of Kurdistan Region employees directly.
