Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani confirmed today, Monday, that the Air Force College will provide the Iraqi army with qualified pilot officers, while noting that directives have been given to develop the infrastructure of the Ministry of Defense and arm it from international origins.
The Prime Minister said in his speech during the opening of the Air Force College at Al-Suwayra Air Base, which was viewed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), “We are meeting today to open the Air Force College to be another edifice added to the series of colleges and bases that this command possesses, through which the heroes of this mission may continue.” "The vital category is their tremendous efforts to protect Iraq's skies and defend its sovereignty."
He pointed to "the history of the heroic air force, starting with the first flight in Iraqi aircraft, which was piloted by five of the founding pilot officers after they landed in Baghdad (Al-Washash Camp - formerly Al-Muthanna Military Airport), after their qualification outside Iraq, and obtaining certificates of military aviation sciences."
He added, "From the date of its founding to the present day, the heroes of the Air Force have played a prominent role in protecting the homeland, and sacrificing with their brothers from all types of our armed forces, in defense of the people of Iraq, their dignity, and the sanctity of their lands and independence."
He added, "It is no secret to anyone the great achievement achieved by the heroes of the Iraqi army with the support of the air hawks against terrorism. Our heroic aircraft have taught ISIS terrorists unforgettable lessons, and they continue to destroy their hideouts and inflict upon them the harshest defeats until there is no longer a trace left for them in the land of beloved Iraq."
He explained, "The invincibility of Iraq, land and sky, is part of our message and duty, to preserve every inch of this good land, and every city and town, safe, secure, stable and prosperous, and resistant to anyone who dares to extend a hand of aggression and tampering."
He continued, “Because this type has a major role in resolving battles and achieving victory, we had to give it special importance commensurate with what it performs in defense of Iraq,” continuing, “Since we began our duties at the head of the government and the leadership of the armed forces, we directed that it be completed.” “Working to restore the infrastructure of the joints of the state within the government program that we prepared, and the Ministry of Defense was one of the important ministries that we emphasized on developing its infrastructure, developing the capabilities of the Iraqi army and our general armed forces, and supplying them with all that is advanced and new in weapons and military equipment and from the finest international facilities.” .
He pointed out, “The directive to complete the contracted projects whose implementation has been delayed, and among these projects that we stressed on resolving is the Essaouira base project (the headquarters of the Air Force College) because of its great importance and its major role in serving the military institution in general.” And the Air Force in particular, this edifice will provide the Iraqi army with qualified pilot officers, after they undergo study and training in its corridors.”
He noted, "Today the Air Force College sees the light after re-work has begun and more than seventy-two percent of its infrastructure has been completed."
He continued, “Today, as we talk about the completion of this important project, we must praise all parties that contributed to its completion, including the efforts of the Minister of Defense, who had continuous meetings and field follow-up with the company implementing the project and the departments and directorates in the ministry, and overcoming all obstacles to its completion. In addition to the Military Works Directorate in the Ministry of Defense, which had a large and important role in completing the work and making it see the light.”
He added, "We must also praise the great role played by other ministries to complete the project, represented by the Ministry of Oil, the Ministry of Electricity, and the Ministry of Finance, in addition to the Ministry of Interior," praising "the role of the Korean company that worked to complete this project at the time that was agreed upon." With them".
Al-Sudani offered, “Salutes to all members of the heroic Air Force Command, including falcons, engineers, and technicians, and to their honorable families, as they are the ones who wrote the most wonderful heroics with their blood in order to preserve the sovereignty and dignity of our beloved country.”
