Today, Saturday, the head of the National Investment Authority, Haider Makkiya, revealed that many requests had been received to implement a waste treatment project to generate electrical energy, while confirming the imminent announcement of a solar energy project.
Makiya told an official agency, “There are many applications submitted for a project to recycle and treat waste to generate electrical energy,” noting, “By reading the reports on these projects, it was noted that there are multiple and different technologies.”
He added, "The project to treat waste and convert it into electrical energy is the first project of its kind in Iraq, so the selection of specifications must be very precise, to ensure the implementation of the project on the ground," noting that "specialists from several ministries were called to study the waste treatment project, An ideal worksheet was created for the criteria to express interest and apply for the investment opportunity.”
He explained, “The waste treatment project is one of the renewable energy projects, as Iraq will avoid gaseous and carbon emissions resulting from burning waste, and thus it is possible to treat waste in a scientific and thoughtful manner,” stressing, “The announcement of a solar energy investment project will soon be implemented by international companies.”
