Today, Thursday (December 21, 2023), the US Ambassador to Baghdad, Alina Romanowski, announced an agreement with the leader of the National Wisdom Movement, Ammar al-Hakim, on the necessity of stopping attacks targeting US facilities in Iraq .
The ambassador said in her tweet on the “X” website, “An important conversation took place yesterday with Al-Hakim and Acting US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, where we agreed on the need to stop attacks on US facilities in Iraq.”
She added, "The two sides agreed on the need to increase humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza, and to maintain peace throughout the region."
Yesterday, Wednesday (December 20, 2023), Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani met with the Deputy Secretary of State of the United States of America, Victoria Nuland, and her accompanying delegation, and stressed during the meeting the importance of working to enhance the stability of the region.
Al-Sudani pointed out, according to a statement from his office, the responsibility of the Iraqi government in maintaining security on its territory, and its seriousness in imposing security and stability and protecting diplomatic missions and embassies, and the locations of international coalition advisors working in Iraq, stressing the government’s refusal to take any action on Iraqi territory by any external party. .
Following the Sudanese meeting, the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, met with the American delegation in Erbil, and the two sides stressed the importance of protecting the security and safety of diplomatic missions, American forces, and international coalition forces present in Iraq.
