    Economy News - Baghdad
The Ministry of Transport announced today, Thursday, the return of a CRJ 900 aircraft to service within the company’s air fleet, after it was grounded for more than a year.
The ministry stated in a statement received by Al-Iqtisad News, “In line with the directives of the Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhaibas Al-Saadawi, to adhere to the timetables for returning grounded aircraft to service, the General Company of Iraqi Airlines continues its tireless efforts to return grounded aircraft to service.”
The company's general manager, Manaf Abdel Moneim, confirmed, according to the statement, that "the plane returned to service carried out its first direct flight today between Baghdad and Mashhad, after undergoing inspection and replacing one of its engines, and then completing all safety procedures on it and obtaining official approvals from the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority."
He explained, "Work is continuing to return the other parked aircraft to service through the efforts made by the company, whether at the level of maintenance work carried out within the country by its engineering and technical personnel, or those related to contracts with major reputable companies to maintain the engines of a number of planes out of service." He pointed out that “a batch of them was sent to these companies in the hope that they will complete their maintenance and receive them soon.”
