The coordination framework, which brings together the Shiite political forces, confirmed today, Saturday (December 30, 2023), that it does not want to marginalize any political party during the formation of local governments during the coming period.
The representative of the framework, Mahdi Taqi, said in an interview with "Baghdad Today", "The forces of the coordination framework, after forming a unified bloc in the provincial councils, now have a majority in those councils, which enables them to form local governments as well as head those councils and other executive positions."
Taqi added, “Despite this, the coordination framework does not want to marginalize or exclude any party during the formation of local governments, and for this reason we will conduct dialogues and negotiations with all partners in order to form strong, harmonious local governments supported by the political majority, as happened with the formation of the Sudanese government.”
According to the final results of the provincial council elections announced by the Independent High Electoral Commission, the parties that constitute the coordinating framework and the blocs allied with it together obtained at least 101 seats out of 285 seats available in the provincial council elections that were held on the eighteenth of this month, giving them the largest share. .
Members of the Coordination Framework, which actually constitutes the largest single bloc in Parliament, competed on three main lists, but said they would govern together after the provincial council elections held on December 18, the first agreement of its kind in 10 years.
The electoral list, which includes Badr, Asaib, and their allies, came in first place with 43 seats, followed by the list of State of Law coalition leader Nouri al-Maliki with 35 seats, while the list containing Ammar al-Hakim and former Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi got 23 seats.
