The “neutral faction” is called to the majority... and the frameworks are threatening to repeat the elections

Baghdad / Tamim Al-Hassan
A package of threats and pressures are being exerted on the "triple alliance" with the approaching date of choosing the "president", to ensure the presence of all Shiite forces in the next government. On the other hand, the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, committed himself to his desire to form a “majority government,” courting yesterday, the independents, to vote in favor of his project.
Parliament had decided that next week's session would be to elect the President of the Republic, who in turn would assign the candidate of the largest bloc to form a government.
So far, "Al-Sadr", who is the largest pillar of the tripartite alliance, insists that whoever participates in the next government will be according to his conditions.
Therefore, it is not excluded that Tehran will launch a new wave of missiles at Iraq, or sabotage the next parliament session in the hope of holding early elections.
The information received by (Al-Mada) from behind the scenes of politics describes that a "bone-breaking battle" is taking place between "Al-Sadr" and the Iranian wings inside Iraq.
Al-Sadr, who won the largest seats with 73 deputies, insists that whoever participates with him in the next stage in the government must be prepared to “confront the corrupt” and “prevent the circulation of arms outside the authority.”
These conditions are specifically proposed by the leader of the Sadrist movement to the Shiite forces, which include more than 60 armed factions, including a number of groups outside the “crowd” system.
On the other hand, these conditions do not satisfy the Shiite parties within the so-called “coordinating framework,” which claim to own what has become known as the “blocking third.”
During the last period, this group promoted several stories to blow up Al-Sadr's project, including accusing the latter of seeking to "break up the Shiites" and "dissolve the crowd."
The Iranian "ballistic" bombing last week, against Erbil, was one of Tehran's fiercest responses to the leader of the Sadrist movement's refusal to include the "Shiites" in the government.
And information sources close to the atmosphere of the negotiations expect that all possibilities are open and available, including "Tehran directing new strikes if things go against its desire."
This was hinted at by Iranian analysts, by promoting the news that two or three other headquarters of the “Mossad” in Erbil, the Israeli intelligence service, will be targeted.
Expectations in this regard were to direct the next strike against the Sunni forces, which are the other ally of Al-Sadr after the Kurdistan Democratic Party.
The "Sunnis" received more than one attack, after targeting the headquarters and homes of parliamentarians, including the house of Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi in Anbar, near which a missile fell last month.
The “chain of threats” against the tripartite alliance includes threatening to “sabotage” the next parliament session dedicated to choosing the president of the republic.
So far, the "frameworkers" have practically between 80 and 85 seats, which is about 30 fewer than the "blocking third", which could stop the presidential election session, but they also still hope to reach a solution with "Al-Sadr" at the last minute.
Last month, the Federal Court interpreted the quorum for the “president” selection session with two-thirds of the parliament (220 out of 329 seats).
But the "Coordination" claims that it now has 130 seats, based on understandings with independents and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, which has 17 seats.
The total number (130) or more, according to statements by members of the Coordination Committee, is still questionable, especially since the Union did not explicitly announce its joining the group.
The coordinating framework also hinted several times that it would announce the formation of "National Stability", a new bloc that includes the first, headed by Nuri al-Maliki, the leader of the state of law, something that has not happened so far.
On this basis, if Parliament fails to hold its next session, which is set for March 26, the “frameworkers” will go to challenge the election results and take early action.
However, Abdul Salam Barwari, a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, told Al-Mada: “A new session with the same candidates can be held” if the expected session fails.
Parliament had opened two weeks ago, for the third time, the door for candidacy for the position of President of the Republic, and said that the last procedure is for “one time only.”
last chance
The leader of the Sadrist movement grabbed the head of the thread and said yesterday that the next session is the "last chance" for the majority project.
In a tweet, the leader of the Sadrist movement called on the independents to join him, and said: "We must get out of the neck of consensus into the space of the majority."
Al-Sadr offered the independents an invitation to participate in the next government and hinted at giving them positions, and not aligning with the “blocking third,” which he considered a source of “enticement and intimidation.”
The leader of the movement added, directing his words to the independents: "We will give you space to run the country... if you stay away from threats."
This is a new time in which al-Sadr refers to the existence of "threats", after he considered earlier that the bombing of Erbil was an attempt to "bring to his knees" the capital of the region.
The leader of the current had also indicated on previous times, after targeting the headquarters of the "Sovereignty", the coalition of Sunni forces and a partner of al-Sadr, that there were threats to his allies.
The number of the remaining independents in Parliament, who are the neutral category, after the merger of a number of them within the big powers, is estimated at forty or a little more.
This number fits perfectly with the Triple Alliance in achieving a quorum for the “president” selection session, as the coalition in the worst case has 180 seats, although (the tripartite) appeared to be more coherent than that when it voted twice (Halbousi’s selection session, and the opening session for nominations for the President of the Republic Third) with more than 200 deputies.
