    Baghdad/Al-Masala Al-Hadath: Member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Representative Mudar Al-Karawi, confirmed the approval of the state employee salary scale law in the middle of next year.
    Al-Karawi said that Iraq's exceptional circumstances due to the recurring security disturbances after 2003 and what followed, and the accumulated mistakes and poor planning, burdened the national economy, not to mention the massive corruption that devoured a large portion of financial resources for years.
    He added that the government has begun gradual reforms to the past regime and the economy in general within multiple axes, pointing out that the salary scale represents part of the reforms in creating justice in the salary file in accordance with basic principles that give everyone their rights.
    The salary scale amendment includes increasing the salaries of all Iraqi employees in varying proportions, in addition to increasing some allocations, such as housing allowance and treatment allowance.
    This increase aims to improve the standard of living for Iraqi employees and motivate them to work better.
    The Iraqi government had announced the start of work on amending the salary scale in 2022, after widespread protests by Iraqi employees over the decrease in their salaries.
    The project to amend the salary scale faced some opposition from some Iraqi representatives, who saw that it would cost the state large sums of money.
    But in the end, the draft salary scale amendment was approved by the Iraqi Council of Ministers.
    It is assumed that the law will enter into force after voting on it in the Iraqi Council of Representatives.
    Speculative information indicates that increasing the salaries of Iraqi employees may reach 50%, in addition to increasing the housing allowance for employees from 50 thousand dinars to 100 thousand dinars, as well as increasing the treatment allowance for employees from 20 thousand dinars to 50 thousand dinars, and implementing the new salary scale.
