Baghdad/Al-Masala Al-Hadath: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan confirmed that his country is moving forward in combating the PKK organization in Syria and Iraq, noting that the military presence outside the borders is vital to our security.
After chairing a government meeting in the presidential complex in Ankara, Erdogan pointed out that 465 people linked to terrorism have been arrested since the beginning of this year by the police and gendarmerie.
President Erdogan touched on the recent attack on Turkish forces in northern Iraq, which resulted in the martyrdom of 9 soldiers.
He went on to say: We did not let the blood of our martyrs go in vain, so we bombed 114 targets and neutralized 78 terrorists in our air operations in Syria and Iraq in the past five days.
He also pointed out that the Turkish intelligence service had destroyed 60 facilities belonging to the organization (PKK) since January 12.
He pointed out that Turkey's firm strategy to eliminate terrorism at its source has disturbed those who plan to establish it in our region.
He added: Our military presence outside our borders is of vital importance to the security of our homeland and the safety of our citizens, and this cannot be undone.
He continued: Our operations outside the borders also foiled plots aimed at dragging Turkey into internal unrest through a wave of irregular migration.
He pointed to an increase in the pace of providing assistance to the PKK organization, including weapons, ammunition, and sponsorship, indicating that we will certainly take new steps in this direction (fighting terrorism) during the coming months.
He continued: As long as the imperialists’ plans to establish terrorism in Iraq and Syria remain on the table, none of us will feel safe.
He added: As long as the promises made to us are not implemented, no one has the right to object to Turkey’s measures for its security.
He pointed out that Turkey's foreign operations foiled the plans of those seeking to change the maps in the region.
He said: We will not stop until we destroy all the terrorist nests that were established with malicious intentions in Syria, from Tal Rifaat to Ain al-Arab, and from Al-Hasakah to Manbij.
He concluded his speech by saying: Our operations in the region will continue until we secure every inch of the mountains of northern Iraq, which are the source of terrorist acts.
