Blinken posted on his account on the Iranian attacks without hesitation.
Yesterday, Barzani's office announced in a statement that the latter met with Blinken in Davos, and stated that Blinken announced that "America and President Biden take these attacks targeting the Kurdistan region seriously, and will do what is necessary to protect the security and stability of the Kurdistan region."
According to the statement, the US Secretary of State said: “We condemn in the strongest possible way the attack on Erbil, which represents a blatant violation of Iraq’s sovereignty.”
It is noteworthy that on the night of Monday, January 15, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard fired 11 missiles at the city of Erbil, announcing that it had targeted spy centers and anti-Iranian gatherings with a number of ballistic missiles.
Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani described the Iranian strike in Erbil as "a clear act of aggression against Iraq that targeted a residential area and its victims were an Iraqi Kurdish family, including children."
The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the submission of an official complaint against Iran to the UN Security Council, against the backdrop of the missile attack.
