    Today, Sunday (January 28, 2024), the Presidency of the House of Representatives held an expanded meeting to discuss amending the Mukhtars Law.
    The Parliament's Media Department said, in a statement received by "Baghdad Today", that "Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Shakhwan Abdullah, held an expanded meeting with a delegation of the Mukhtars of Iraq."
     According to the statement, Abdullah stressed “the House of Representatives’ directive to proceed with legal procedures regarding the draft law amending the Mukhtars’ Law No. (13) of 2011.”
    The statement continued, "During the meeting, they discussed the work of this important segment and ensuring their rights in order to contribute to providing services to citizens within their areas of work, and enhancing the role of the elected officials as the link between the citizen and the government."
