    Baghdad today - Baghdad 
    The Presidency of the House of Representatives decided, today, Monday (January 29, 2024),  to file a complaint against the two former representatives, Rehab Al-Abouda and Warizan Sheikh Deler, for insulting members of the House “without evidence,” as well as a journalist and a media outlet. It also decided to prevent them from entering the House’s headquarters .
    The Parliament’s Media Department said in a statement received by “Baghdad Today” that “in resumption of the systematic campaign that intends to harm the House of Representatives, the House of the People, former MP Rehab Al-Abouda appeared on one of the satellite channels impersonating the position of advisor to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, even though she had removed this capacity from her.” Since March 2022, unjustified abuses and abuses have been directed at the Council.”
    The statement added, "MP Rezan Sheikh Delir also appeared alleging cases of harassment of female MPs in the Council, without providing evidence of that." 
    The Presidency of the House of Representatives decided, according to the statement, “to direct the Legal Affairs Department to file a complaint against former MP Rehab Al-Abouda for impersonating an official capacity and insulting the House of Representatives and its members through one of the means of publicity, and to file a complaint against the media outlet in which she appeared, and the journalist who conducted the interview with her for his far-fetched performance.” His professionalism and his repeated insults to the House of Representatives, as well as filing a complaint against former MP Rizan Sheikh Dler for insulting members of the House of Representatives and making wild accusations without evidence.”
    He continued, "The Presidency of the Council also decided to prevent those who referred to them from entering the headquarters of the House of Representatives or attending official activities there." 
    The media department confirmed, “At a time when the Presidency of the House of Representatives urges all political, cultural, media, and community activities to exercise their role in consciously expressing opinion, diagnosing deficiencies, and proposing solutions based on the constitution and the law,” indicating that “insulting state institutions and distorting Its reputation does not, in any way, represent the exercise of freedom of opinion and expression, but rather represents a crime punishable by law, and the Presidency of the House of Representatives will not tolerate any abuse directed at the House unjustly, and it will seek redress from those who abuse and transgress the rights of this constitutional institution by resorting to the judiciary.”
