    The Presidency of the Kurdistan Region and the US Department of Defense issued a joint statement on Tuesday about the inaugural meeting of the Executive Committee for Peshmerga Guidance.[/size]
    [size=45]The Presidency of the Region said in a statement, “Senior officials from the US government and the Kurdistan Region held, on January 29, an inaugural meeting of the Executive Committee to guide the Peshmerga in the Presidency of the Kurdistan Region in Erbil.”[/size]
    [size=45]She added, “The purpose of the committee meeting was to evaluate the progress achieved in achieving the goals of Peshmerga reform, which were set by the memorandum of understanding between the US Department of Defense and the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs of the Kurdistan Regional Government, which was renewed in September 2022.”[/size]
    [size=45]The presidency explained, “The committee reviewed the progress made in the field of Peshmerga reform, and agreed on the main points for the coming year, as part of the long-term joint commitment to unify the Peshmerga forces under the supervision of the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs in the Kurdistan Regional Government and build a professional force capable of ensuring the permanent defeat of ISIS.” .[/size]
    [size=45]She stressed that “the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs has made significant progress towards financial reform and restructuring of forces, and both the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs look forward to continuing progress in the reform efforts outlined in the memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs in the Kurdistan Regional Government for the year 2022.”[/size]
    [size=45]She noted that “the United States of America stands with the people of Iraq, including the people of the Kurdistan Region, in their quest to build a strong, stable, and sovereign Iraq.”[/size]
