    Baghdad today - Erbil
Former member of the Kurdistan Regional Parliament, Rebwar Babkai, confirmed today, Sunday (February 18, 2024), that if the siege to which the region was subjected at the current stage had occurred in another country or another entity, it would have collapsed completely, reviewing the secrets of the region’s “resilience.”
Babaki said in an interview with "Baghdad Today" that "the region's wise administration, the relations it worked on, openness to the outside world, and non-interference in issues and things that do not concern it, all of these matters contributed to the region's development and its overcoming of various crises."
He added, "On the political level, the distinguished relations with the Gulf countries and the countries of the world, and remaining neutral on crucial issues, contributed to creating distinguished relations and a presence at the global level, and this contributed to attracting the investment environment to the region."
He pointed out that "all countries of the world respect the region and consider it a distinct entity with a presence in international forums, and these things made Kurdistan, through its government, overcome the siege and war. There were many years in which Baghdad did not send a single penny to the region, and yet the giant projects continued and the provision of services continued."
The Kurdistan Regional Government has been experiencing a financial crisis for a whole year after the export of oil from the Kurdistan Region stopped, while the region still sometimes receives financial aid and funding from countries around the world, as the Peshmerga receive funding from Washington.
