BAGHDAD / Nina / The head of the National Reform parliamentary bloc, Hilal al-Sahlani considered the visit of Prime Minister Haider Abadi to the Iranian capital Tehran and the upcoming visit of the President of the Republic, Fuad Masum to Saudi Arabia are steps of openness to a new foreign policy.

He told the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA / "After the formation of the government and particularly voting on the security ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs' tour and his participation in the international conferences and his meetings started to give positive results, represented in the visit of Abadi to Tehran and the upcoming visit of Masum to Saudi Arabia."

Sahlani added, "These steps are all in the interests of the country and the clear openness of the foreign policy on the countries of the region is the secret of the success of the current government and there must be support for the government and there should be a compatibility with its external steps."

He explained that "it's not limited to visits by foreign officials, but Iraq received many foreign and Arab delegations and most recently the Arab League delegation, which serve to support Iraq and give evidence of the government's positive steps."

The Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi arrived in Tehran yesterday evening on a visit at the head of a high level delegation.

President Fuad Masum is scheduled to visit the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the coming period. / End
