    Baghdad today - Sulaymaniyah
Today, Friday (March 29, 2024), a number of Sulaymaniyah protesters expressed their refusal to return to official work, after the direct decision of the regional government to pay salaries for the month of February.
Dana Zangana, a member of the Protest Committee, said in an interview with “Baghdad Today”: “It is shameful for the regional government to be proud of the distribution of the February salary and consider it an achievement, while we will enter the month of April in two days.”
He added, "The strike will continue until the March salary is paid, and our salaries are settled in the federal banks and we are not forced to join an accounting project."
Yesterday, Thursday, the Ministry of Finance and Economy of the Kurdistan Regional Government announced the employee salary schedule for the month of February.
According to the schedule that was published, and seen by “Baghdad Today,” “the distribution of salaries will begin starting next Saturday, as the Ministry of Health, Finance, Interior, retirees, social affairs, and people with special needs will be the first to receive the salary.”
On Wednesday, the Kurdistan Regional Government announced the distribution of employee salaries for the month of February and preparations to secure salaries for the coming months.
On the other hand, employees in Sulaymaniyah Governorate collected signatures to reject the “My Account” project and demand the localization of the salary in federal banks.
It is noteworthy that the Federal Supreme Court decided last month to oblige Baghdad and the region to settle Kurdistan salaries.
