    Baghdad today - Baghdad
Today, Saturday (April 6, 2024), the head of the State of Law coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, warned of the danger of a “Third World War” in Iraq after the expansion of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
Al-Maliki said in his speech, during the annual memorial ceremony on the occasion of Martyr Al-Fayli’s Day, followed by “Baghdad Today,” that “the region and the world are experiencing very dangerous movements, and we may be approaching the brink of an abyss in a war that will not last or cease, and the war may expand, and it may reach a war.” A new third, and the world is so tense and has so many possibilities.”
He added, "The world lives at the mercy of this tension and bad alignment. Our country is not far from the expected war."
Al-Maliki stressed: "We must unite, cohesion, and work to protect the state and the regime."
In a separate context, Al-Maliki said, "The previous regime committed the most heinous crimes against the Faili Kurds, who were subjected to two hatreds, the first a national hatred and the second a sectarian hatred by the former regime."
He pointed out that "the consequences of the previous regime's decisions against the Faili Kurds were not addressed, including the revocation of citizenship, displacement, and confiscation of property," adding, "I issued a decision when I was prime minister to prevent writing 'subordination' on the identity of the Faili Kurds, but I discovered after a while that many of the officers alone... Now they write that phrase on the identities of the Faili people.”
Al-Maliki called for "not only commemorating the Day of the Faili Martyr, but rather the issues of the Faili Kurds in Iraq and abroad must be followed up."
