The new name of the Sadrist movement.. What comes after meeting with Al-Sistani and contacting the leaders of the region?
Circles close to the Sadrist movement were busy trying to explain the announcement of a new name for the Sadrist movement, to become the “National Shiite Movement.” One of the most prominent commentators interested in the news of Al-Hanana warned that this comes after steps that aroused the interest of observers during the month of Ramadan, perhaps the most notable of which was the rare meeting between the leader of the Sadrist movement. The movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, and the supreme authority, Ali al-Sistani, in the latter’s house in central Najaf, in addition to the issuance of extraordinary instructions to the movement’s offices, stressing the necessity of communicating with the popular bases, with many, many details, especially the Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos project, and the Sadrist position described as among the most advanced. In solidarity with Gaza, and launching a major aid campaign, followed by extensive contacts conducted by the movement’s leadership with regional leaders in Jordan, Egypt, and others.
Political commentator Manaf Al-Moussawi described the announcement of the new name of the Sadrist movement as “carefully thought out and came after a number of developments, most notably the meeting in the house of the Grand Ayatollah Sistani, and the new orders put forward by Al-Sadr to strengthen the connection with his popular base throughout the country, in addition to his regional contacts regarding Gaza.”
For years, research centers have been busy analyzing Al-Sadr’s attempts to distinguish his movement from many of the other Shiite forces that he accuses of being subject to Iranian influence, which led to several political experiments, including the “Sairoon” coalition, then the “Sadrist Bloc,” and his wavering relationship with the October protest movement. It is not the end of the tripartite alliance with the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the largest Sunni bloc represented by the “Taqaddum” Party, leading to the dramatic withdrawal from the political process. After the new decision, the media will find itself faced with a new designation, which is “the Shiite National Movement,” in contrast to the usual title of its competitors in the “coordination framework.” “Shiite.”
Al-Sadr began using the phrase “the National Shiite Sadrist Movement” to describe the gathering of his supporters, or the “National Shiite Movement” without “Sadrist” sometimes, instead of the usual phrase “the Sadrist Movement,” and this appeared in part of his recent correspondence in his handwriting, where he added the words “ “The Shiite National,” in conjunction with his decision to cancel the “Al-Sadr Parade,” and the movement’s supporters were quick to circulate and adopt what they considered “a new name for the movement,” and the movement’s bloggers wrote encouraging each other to adhere to the two new words in the name. The Sadrist blogger and the resigned representative of the Sadrist bloc discussed Haider Al-Haddad Al-Khafaji explained the dimensions of the new decision, and said that this expresses the movement’s arrival at “an advanced stage of sophistication and its journey over thorns and embers.”
