Prime Minister: We plan to invest production capacities for export

Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani announced plans to export flour in the future by investing in production capacities. This came during his reception at his residence in Washington, Chairman of the US Wheat Council, Vince Peterson, and his accompanying delegation.
A statement from the Prime Minister’s Media Office stated, “In the meeting, aspects of future cooperation were discussed in supplying wheat to Iraq of the best quality and at reasonable prices in order to produce flour outside the uses of the ration card, which the government worked to secure and enhance its strategic reserves, relying mainly on Iraqi wheat.” ".
Al-Sudani pointed to “continuous cooperation with the Wheat Council,” praising “his efforts in facilitating contracts with the Ministry of Commerce and supplying it with wheat, at a time when Iraq was in dire need of large quantities of it to enhance its food security.” He stressed, "The government is keen to continue cooperation with specialized American companies, in order to produce flour for the local market and dispense with importing it, in addition to the government continuing its efforts in the field of enhancing food security by supporting farmers and the private agricultural sector in Iraq." He pointed out that "the government will work to overcome all obstacles to proceed in cooperation with American companies in supporting this project, meeting the local market's need for flour, and planning to export it in the future by investing in the production capabilities of private mills, a large portion of their production lines are idle." For his part, Peterson expressed "looking forward to more cooperation and future work," noting that "the American Wheat Council has worked with Iraq for decades, within the framework of a memorandum of understanding for the Wheat Council. He also expressed his pride in the partnership with Iraq."
Al-Sudani also received, at his residence in Washington, the Chairman of the Democratic Caucus in the US House of Representatives, Seth Molten.
During the meeting, bilateral relations between the two countries were discussed, and the Iraqi government’s direction towards moving the relationship with the United States to a level that goes beyond the security and military aspects to broader areas in the economic, oil and cultural sectors, and in the fields of education and investment, in accordance with the strategic framework agreement. The meeting witnessed praise for the Iraqi government's measures and approach in the field of reform and strengthening the economy, as well as its steps in strengthening security and stability efforts in Iraq and the region. It also addressed the events in Gaza, and stressed the need to stop the war and protect defenseless civilians, especially children and women, in a way that contributes to the stability and security of the region. On the other hand, as part of his official visit to the United States of America, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani received, yesterday, Tuesday, a Mesopotamian artifact dating back to the Sumerian era from the Metropolitan Museum in New York.
During the handover ceremony that took place at the residence, Al-Sudani expressed his appreciation for the museum’s management, the efforts made to deliver this artifact, and the procedures for handing it over to the Iraqi embassy, stressing that these initiatives will strengthen the relationship between Iraq and the United States. The Prime Minister pointed out that the Iraqi antiquities represent the country’s identity, history and civilization, and that the government continues its efforts to recover all the antiquities dating back to the Mesopotamian civilizations, especially after the country was exposed to a wave of theft and neglect during past eras, which caused the loss of such a large number. It is one of the archaeological collections that chronicle Iraq’s civilization and document its humanitarian contributions. He stressed that one of the important obligations of the government and the state is to cooperate with friendly countries and all international and cultural institutions.
