    Economy News - Baghdad
A prominent Turkish research center described Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visit to Iraq as having a security nature par excellence, and while stressing that the development path linking FAO and Europe is a rare alternative to the Strait of Hormuz and what is happening in the Red Sea, it pointed to Iran's position.
Director of the Istanbul Center for Thought, Bakir Atacan, said in a televised interview followed by “Al-Eqtisad News”: “With regard to the security agreement and the path to development, Iran fears this, and not only now, but since the Iran-Iraq war and before that, it continues to try to prevent there from being agreements between Iraq and Turkey, no matter what.” "It was the price."
He added: "Every Monday, a meeting of Turkish ministers is held in Ankara, but today they met in Baghdad, and this is very important."
The director of the Istanbul Center for Thought explained: “Thirteen years ago, when Erdogan was asked about the results of his visit to Iraq, he said: We want a security agreement between the two countries, but unfortunately Iraq has not come close to such an agreement, and all the Turkish officials who visited Iraq in the previous period said that we do not find a solution or security agreement.” It brings together both parties, and therefore this visit is a security visit par excellence.”
He pointed out, “Iran does not want an agreement between Iraq and Turkey, because it will lose a lot in the region, as it has weapons in the Strait of Hormuz (which includes controlling Gulf oil), but if the development road succeeds, it will constitute an alternative to the Strait of Hormuz, (and the FAO-Turkey road will be passable.” Oil and goods), the entire Gulf can use Al-Faw port, and the development road even if the Strait of Hormuz is closed, so this development road project is a lifeline for the Gulf states and Iraq at the same time.”
Atacan said: “With the development road, even if the strait is closed and problems occur in the Red Sea, this road will remain passable. It is another road that the Gulf countries can use and exploit, and Turkey will also benefit. The biggest beneficiary is Iraq and the Iraqi people, followed by the Gulf countries, and then finally Turkey.”
He continued his speech, saying: “Therefore, Iran is ready to pay everything it has to the Bakkeh Party in order to bring down the projects it wants to bring down if they are for the benefit of Iraq or Turkey, because it wants to be the head of the game and not Turkey or Iraq.”...
