The Ministry of Planning has set May 26 as the date for the pilot census, noting that all preparations have been completed in cooperation with the international implementing companies.
A statement from the ministry stated that the Minister of Planning, Muhammad Tamim, met with the relevant officials of the ministry and representatives of the international companies contracted with to implement the population census project, indicating adherence to the timings of the action plan for the general population and housing census, on the scheduled date of the 20th of next November and in accordance with international specifications.
The statement explained that the Statistics and Geographic Information Systems Authority is making great efforts in coordination with the companies concerned, in establishing the data center and communications center, and manufacturing tablet devices according to international specifications, which will be fully equipped before the end of next July, pointing to the launch of the census in specific areas in all governorates, including It includes the governorates of the Kurdistan region.
According to the statement, the Minister of Planning directed that “employees of the planning and standardization departments in all governorates be available for the full census, while representatives of companies provided a detailed explanation of the work stages and future steps.”
